A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys." Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen—and the dreams that are answered.”

SPOILERS FOR A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES (Book One)

Feyre has survived, but she’s haunted by the things she did to save Tamlin and his people. She hasn’t forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, and as she struggles to master her new powers, she must also navigate new evils, political intrigue, and the complexities of power.

Sarah J. Maas is an absolute genius. The way she shapes Feyre and allows her to grow is simply amazing. I was absolutely shocked multiple times while reading this—it’s that good! I definitely recommend reading the first book, as it does a fantastic job setting up the events of this second installment.

Tamlin is literally the worst—his actions are so cringe-worthy. From his angry outbursts to keeping Feyre locked up like a child, he made me despise him. They were clearly not a good match. He tried to coddle her as if she were still human and incapable of taking care of herself. Rhys, on the other hand, was an unexpected delight. His relationship with Feyre developed beautifully. Unlike Tamlin, Rhys doesn’t hold Feyre back. He teaches her to read and helps her harness her new powers—something Tamlin refused to do. While Rhys isn’t without his faults, he and Feyre are perfect together. When the big twist happens, he doesn’t fight her on it, even though it kills him to let her go through with it.
